Oh, boy... has my world has been turned upside downside since my last post at the start of the new year! I hope you've been able to stay in touch with me on Pinterest and Twitter in the meantime~
What was the reason for my disappearance? What caused me to be so tired that I did not have the energy to blog after a full day's work? What left me with ONLY enough energy to binge watch 'Hart of Dixie'? Answer: I was PREGNANT
My husband and I chose to keep the gender of our baby a secret until our Reveal Baby Shower back home in California on May 1st. I was convinced I was having a girl. My husband and I got in the habit of using feminine pronouns when we talked about #babyHENKIN. I said to him, "We better stop staying 'she,' because we're going to be in for a real surprise if we have a boy!'
Any guesses? Pink or blue? Tutus or Bow ties?
On the count of 3.......POP!
What? BLUE confetti?! I was in total shock when my husband popped the large black balloon that I had been staring at us during the whole baby shower. The first thought in my head was, "Oh no, the wrong color confetti was put inside....Wait, or maybe I'm having a boy? Oh my gosh, I'm having a boy!" The look on my husband's face was priceless. He was stoked! And so was I. After 6 months of waiting, we learned that we are expecting a "nice little Jewish boy." :)
Surprisingly, my water broke only 3 weeks later. My husband rushed us to the hospital at 2:30 a.m.. After an examination, the on-call doctor told me we are not leaving the hospital without my baby. Then she mentioned that may be in only a few hours or in several weeks. All I could do was breathe...
I managed to keep #babyHENKIN in for 6 more days while I was on bed rest and under constant monitoring at the hospital. Baby was trying to kick his way out during my ultrasound on that Thursday morning, so the doctor scheduled my C-section that very afternoon.
Our beautiful Simon was born Thursday, May 26th @ 4 lb. 7 oz. He was so small at only 32 weeks and 1 day development, but he was such a fighter. He was able to breathe on his own from the start, and has continued to amaze us with his strength each day. After 3 long and emotional weeks living in the NICU, we were able to bring Simon home with us and complete our happy family.
My husband has proven to be an amazing daddy from the moment I told him I was pregnant, to nursing me in the hospital before my c-section, and every day since I have been healing. He loves Simon so much, and cares for him in the most adoring ways. I love my boys!
We just celebrated our son's 3 month birthday last week. He weighs about 10 lbs 6 oz, and his legs are still kicking strong!
Life as a new mommy sure is exhausting, but I love it. I've had the itch for months, and I think I'm finally ready to blog again! I have so much to share with you about designing our baby's nursery and our new condo. (Oh yes, we also closed on our condo the day we brought Simon home from the hospital!)
Talk to you soon!
